Stalin thanked for raising CETP issue with Sonia

Tirupur: Tirupur Exporters’ Association today thanked Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin for taking the issue of getting grant for Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP), with UPA Chairperson and AICC president,Sonia Gandhi.

In a letter thanking Stalin, TEA president, A Shakivel expressed hope that against this background,State Government would release rs.120 crore as its share at the earliest.

Stalin had met Sonia yesterday at Delhi and requested her help for sanctioning Rs.240 crore as a grant from Central Government for CETPs constructed in Tirupur at a cost of over rs.800 crore, while discussing other issues,it said.

Over 600 dyers in Tirupur had stopped operations for 20 days on the issue and withdrew their strike following Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s assurance to take up the issue with the Centre of getting Rs.240 crore grant and also to release State’s share of rs.120 crore. – Agencies
